Washington - Saba:
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that negotiations on a settlement in Ukraine are going well and an agreement is "very close."
Trump said in press statements, according to Russia's Sputnik news agency, that "the negotiations are going very well, and we are very close to reaching an agreement."
Trump confirmed that Crimea "will remain part of Russia" under the peace agreement on Ukraine.
He added, "Crimea will remain part of Russia. Zelenskyy knows that, and everyone knows it's been under their control for a long time."
Trump accused Kyiv of starting a conflict with Russia, asserting that the reason for the conflict was that Ukraine had begun talking about joining NATO.
He said, "I don't think they'll ever be able to join NATO."
