Occupied Quds - Saba:
Israeli media reported Thursday that a soldier from the Golani Brigade committed suicide this week by shooting himself at the Sde Teiman military base.
The Israeli Enemy newspaper Haaretz reported that the soldier committed suicide after being questioned by the Military Investigation Police.
The newspaper added that the soldier had left the Gaza Strip to attend a refresher course, and that Military Police investigators were awaiting him in connection with a previous investigation.
The newspaper noted that the soldier's commanders decided to confiscate his weapon following the investigation. Hours later, he took his comrade's weapon and shot himself.
This is the third suicide in the ranks of the Israeli army since the beginning of July. A soldier who had fought in Gaza committed suicide as a result of suffering from what is known as "post-war disorder." Another soldier set himself on fire in his car as a result of suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after participating in fighting in Gaza and Lebanon.
A Tel Aviv University study, published last month, revealed that one in eight Israeli soldiers who fought in Gaza is mentally unfit to return to service due to mental disorders or illnesses.
The study showed that 12 percent of Israeli soldiers who fought in Gaza reported severe symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
The Tel Aviv University study noted that soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder effectively render them unfit for service
