The price of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin exceeded $121,000 for the first time in its history early Monday morning, according to trading data.

According to data from the digital currency exchange platform Binance, Bitcoin exceeded the $121,000 threshold and is currently trading at $120,950, according to a statement on the exchange's website.

It is noteworthy that the price of Bitcoin exceeded $116,000 last Friday, according to Binance data.

Bitcoin represents approximately 67.7 percent of the total global cryptocurrency market.
