Several ministers from the Government of Change and Construction visited on Monday the ongoing Leather Industries Project in the capital Sana’a, implemented by the General Authority for Small and Micro Enterprise Development in partnership with the Ministry of Culture’s Handicrafts Department and supervised by Dar al-Hamad Company.
Ministers of Culture and Tourism Ali al-Yafei, Youth and Sports Mohammed al-Muwalad, and Economy, Industry, and Investment Moein al-Mahaqeri, along with the Executive Director of the Heritage Fund Issam al-Sanani and Handicrafts Director Abdulquddus al-Mutawakel, were briefed on the practical training being provided. The training equips participants with leather craftsmanship skills to launch their own income-generating projects.
The ministers praised the quality of the leather products made by trainees and the high level of skill development achieved. They emphasized the project’s role in preserving traditional crafts and creating new economic opportunities.
They also commended the Authority’s commitment to supporting economic empowerment and sustaining handicrafts despite current challenges. The ministers expressed readiness to provide all necessary support to ensure the continuity and expansion of such initiatives.
They urged stakeholders to replicate these successful training models in other districts, considering them vital tools for youth empowerment and livelihood improvement.
