Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has reinforced his position at the top of the ATP world rankings, released today, Monday, following his first-ever Wimbledon championship victory—the third Grand Slam tournament of the year.
Sinner claimed the Wimbledon title yesterday, Sunday, by defeating his Spanish rival and world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling three-set-to-one victory, further extending his lead in the rankings.
American Taylor Fritz, who exited the tournament in the semifinals after losing to Alcaraz, moved up to fourth place, overtaking Britain’s Jack Draper, who dropped to fifth. Another American, Ben Shelton, climbed one spot to ninth, while Russia’s Andrey Rublev re-entered the top 10 with a four-place jump.
On the other hand, Russia’s Daniil Medvedev fell out of the top 10, dropping five spots to 14th after an early first-round exit at Wimbledon.
Women’s Rankings Update
In the WTA rankings, Poland’s Iga Świątek, the newly crowned Wimbledon champion, returned to the top three. Świątek rose one spot to third after securing her first-ever Wimbledon title, trailing behind Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka, who maintains the top position, and American Coco Gauff in second.
American Amanda Anisimova, the Wimbledon runner-up, surged five places to enter the top 10, landing in seventh. Meanwhile, American Jessica Pegula dropped to fourth, while young Russian player Mirra Andreeva climbed two spots to fifth. Italy’s Jasmine Paolini fell four places to ninth, Spain’s Paula Badosa slipped one spot to 10th, and American Emma Navarro exited the top 10, now ranked 11th.
