Muscat – Saba:
The Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili, issued a humanitarian appeal on Saturday to international and Islamic organizations to safeguard the aid reaching the Gaza Strip and prevent it from falling into the hands of looters.
In a post on the social media platform “X,” Sheikh Al-Khalili stated:
"We appeal to the organizations working to deliver food and medicine to besieged Gaza to take all necessary precautions to prevent this aid from being hijacked by pirates."
He warned that these looters "lie in wait to exploit the dire needs of Gaza’s people, selling the aid at exorbitant prices that residents cannot afford — benefiting themselves instead of those in desperate need."
He continued: “We urge the international community to intervene decisively to protect the people of Gaza and ensure aid reaches them. We also call on all parties to sever the hands of those pirates who seek to steal this assistance unjustly.”
Concluding his statement, the Grand Mufti said:
"We especially address Muslims with this appeal — this is a responsibility placed upon their shoulders. They are accountable before God for the suffering and starvation of Gaza’s people. They must not turn away from this duty. We also call upon all people of conscience around the world — they are worthy of responding to this cause."
