Nablus – Saba:
A Palestinian man was martyred and eight others were injured by live gunfire on Saturday evening in a violent attack carried out by armed Israeli settlers on the town of Aqraba, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), the head of Aqraba Municipality, Salah Jaber, reported that armed settlers from a newly established illegal outpost south of the town launched an assault on the southern area. Unarmed residents attempted to repel the attack, prompting Israeli occupation forces to storm the area and open live fire at Palestinians.
Jaber, along with a source from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, confirmed that a young man succumbed to a gunshot wound to the chest. Seven others sustained gunshot injuries, mostly in the lower limbs, while one person was injured by bullet shrapnel in the foot. All were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the martyr as Mu’in Subhi Muhammad Asfar, 24, who was shot dead by settlers in Aqraba.
His death brings the total number of Palestinians martyred by settler violence since the beginning of 2025 to nine, including five killed since early July. Since October 7, 2023, settlers and occupation forces have killed 31 Palestinians in the West Bank alone.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission described the incident as part of a growing wave of settler violence carried out with direct complicity from the Israeli army. Commission head Muayyad Shaaban condemned the Aqraba attack as another crime in a long list of organized terror, affirming that his office is actively documenting violations for international legal action.
Shaaban stressed that such organized terror will not break the will of the Palestinian people, who remain determined to defend their land and rights.
According to the commission, 2,153 settler attacks were recorded in the first half of 2025, resulting in four deaths. In July alone, settlers killed five Palestinians. These attacks ranged from village raids, arson, shootings, and land seizures to the establishment of new outposts. Targeted areas included Kafr Malik, al-Mughayyir, Beita, and Sinjil, with the highest number of incidents in Ramallah (491), Hebron (409), and Nablus (396).
Meanwhile, as Israel’s genocide in Gaza continues since October 7, 2023, the Israeli military and settlers have killed at least 1,012 Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and wounded around 7,000 others. Over 18,000 have been arrested, according to official Palestinian statistics.
