Ramallah - Saba:

A report issued on Sunday by Palestinian prisoners' institutions — including the Commission of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, and Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association — revealed that the total number of arrests in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, has reached approximately 18,500 Palestinian citizens since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The report stated that the number of women arrested has risen to around 570, including those detained from the 1948 territories, the West Bank, and Gaza, but who were arrested in the West Bank. This figure does not include women arrested directly from Gaza, which is estimated to be in the dozens, according to the Palestinian News Agency Wafa.

According to the report, Israeli forces have arrested approximately 1,500 Palestinian children in the West Bank and more than 194 journalists since the beginning of the aggression, 49 of whom remain in detention. The prisoners' organizations added that the ongoing arrest campaigns are accompanied by escalating crimes and violations, including abuse, severe beatings, threats against detainees and their families, as well as widespread vandalism and destruction of citizens’ homes. Additionally, vehicles, money, and gold jewelry have been confiscated.

The destruction has also targeted infrastructure, particularly in the Tulkarm and Jenin refugee camps. Homes belonging to the families of prisoners have been demolished, family members have been used as hostages, and detainees have been used as human shields.

The report documents arrests since the beginning of the war of extermination, including those taken from their homes, at military checkpoints, those forced to surrender, and individuals held as hostages.

It further states that, in addition to the arrest campaigns, Israeli forces have carried out field executions, including those targeting detainees’ family members.

The report clarified that the arrest statistics in the West Bank include those who remain in Israeli custody as well as those who have since been released.

It added: “At least 75 prisoners were martyred in Israeli prisons after October 7, whose identities were confirmed and publicly announced. Among them were 46 martyrs from Gaza, in addition to dozens of Gaza detainees who died in prisons and camps under circumstances not disclosed by the occupying forces. These individuals are considered victims of enforced disappearance, in addition to dozens who were subjected to field executions.”

The report explained that the enemy is holding the bodies of 72 Palestinian prisoners among the martyrs whose martyrdom was announced since the beginning of the genocide. They are among (83) martyrs whose bodies the enemy continues to hold.

It indicated that this data does not include the number of detainees from Gaza as a result of the crime of enforced disappearance imposed by the enemy on Gaza detainees. However, the enemy has acknowledged detaining thousands of citizens, and has subsequently released hundreds of them.

The report stated that the enemy arrested thousands of workers from Gaza who were in the 1948 territories to work with entry permits. It also arrested hundreds of Gaza workers in the West Bank, in addition to Gaza citizens who were in the West Bank seeking medical treatment.

The total number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons by the beginning of July 2025 was approximately 10,800, the highest number since the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000, according to documentary data available to institutions.

The report clarified that this number does not include detainees held in Israeli military camps. As for female prisoners, the number to date has reached (49), including two female prisoners from Gaza.

It noted that the number of detained children has reached more than (450) to date, while the number of administrative detainees by the beginning of July had reached (3,629), the highest percentage compared to the number of detained, convicted, and "unlawful combatants" prisoners.

As for detainees classified as "unlawful combatants," their number reached 2,454. This figure does not include all detainees from Gaza held in enemy military camps. This is the highest number since the beginning of the genocidal war. This classification also includes Arab detainees from Lebanon and Syria, according to the report.

Prisoner organizations confirmed that this data regarding arrests changes daily due to the ongoing arrest campaigns. It includes those who were arrested and kept in detention by the enemy, as well as those who were subsequently released.
