Judicial inspection authority approves field visits to evaluate court officials

Sana’a – Saba:

The Judicial Inspection Authority held a meeting on Monday in the capital Sana’a, chaired by its Chairman Judge Dr. Marwan al-Mahaqeri.

The meeting, attended by heads of the Authority’s departments, approved the launch of field visits by inspection teams to various governorates. These visits aim to evaluate the performance of heads and members of appellate divisions, as well as chairmen and judges of primary courts.

The attendees emphasized that the field visits will be conducted as unannounced inspections covering all aspects of judicial work, primarily judges’ compliance with the Authority’s directive to identify and address stalled or delayed cases by scheduling them in court sessions in accordance with the circular’s provisions and objectives.

They noted that the outcomes of these visits will inform appropriate measures—ranging from commendations for outstanding performance to disciplinary action against underperformers.

Judge al-Mahaqeri stressed that the field inspections across all courts in the Republic are part of a comprehensive plan to evaluate and enhance judicial performance, in line with the Authority’s responsibility to monitor justice delivery and ensure the effectiveness of the judiciary.

He described this initiative as a direct implementation of the Authority’s directive to follow up on pending and delayed cases and ensure they are scheduled for regular hearings—thereby protecting litigants’ rights, reducing delays, and accelerating judicial rulings.

Dr. al-Mahaqeri further emphasized that the Authority views inspection not merely as oversight but as a tool for evaluation, reform, and development.

He affirmed that the upcoming phase will witness strengthened oversight, evaluation, and training efforts, supporting the drive toward a competent, impartial, and fair judiciary, in alignment with the goals of the revolutionary and political leadership and the Supreme Judicial Council.
