Occupied Quds – Saba:
Israeli occupation authorities on Tuesday evening forced a Palestinian resident of Sur Baher, south of occupied Jerusalem, to self-demolish his home.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate and the official Palestinian news agency, the occupation forced Jamal Amjad Jamal Amira to demolish his house under the pretext of lacking a building permit.
This is part of a broader Israeli policy in occupied Jerusalem, where Palestinian residents are routinely pressured to demolish their own homes to avoid exorbitant fines and demolition fees if carried out by Israeli bulldozers.
Israeli authorities deliberately deny building permits to Palestinians in the city while expanding illegal settlements. These actions violate international law and basic human rights, particularly the right to adequate housing, and form part of Israel’s ongoing strategy to forcibly displace Palestinians from Jerusalem in favor of settlement expansion.
