Accra – Saba: Ghana's defense and environment ministers, along with six others, were killed Wednesday in a helicopter crash in the south of the country, according to an official source in the capital, Accra.
A Ghanaian media source quoted the chief of staff of the Ghanaian president, Julius Debrah, as saying that the plane crashed in the Ashanti region after disappearing from radar screens shortly after taking off from Accra at around 9:00 a.m. (local time – GMT), heading for the city of Obuasi, northwest of the capital. All on board were killed, including Defense Minister Edward Omani Boamah and Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Ibrahim Mrutla Mohammed.
