YPC confirms depletion of its stockpiles of oil derivatives at Hodeidah facilities

YPC confirms depletion of its stockpiles of oil derivatives at Hodeidah facilities
[Tue, 01 Sep 2020 14:03:05 +0300]

SANAA, Sep. (Saba) - Yemen's Petroleum Company (YPC) on Tuesday confirmed that its stockpile of oil derivatives in Hodeidah facilities has completely run out and that the service sectors have begun to enter the circle of danger as a result of the continued detention of fuel ships.

In a statement, Saba got a copy of it, the YPC held the Saudi-led aggression coalition countries and the United Nations, which the second provided a cover of the aggression, the full responsibility for detaining fuel ships and continuing preventing their entry to unloading at the port of Hodeidah despite having permits by the verification and inspection mission in the State of Djibouti.

The statement pointed out that the crisis of the shortage of oil derivatives worsens the human suffering as a result of the insistence of the countries of aggression to continue the crime of detaining oil derivatives ships under international cover without paying attention to all the humanitarian appeals issued by the company and the service sectors most affected by the shortage of oil derivatives during the past 100 days.

The aggression countries are still holding 21 oil ships, 17 of which carry 429,041 tons of gasoline and diesel materials for varying periods of time of up to 155 days, the statement said.

It explained that the percentage of released quantities of diesel amounted to 12% of the total actual need in a normal situation within 100 days, while the released quantities of gasoline amounted to 22% of the total actual need in a normal situation. Fines for vessels currently in custody amounted to $37 million.

The statement condemned the UN envoy's deliberateness to minimize the catastrophic repercussions contained in government and international reports while continuing to mix files, ignore certain priorities and act selectively aimed at covering up the UN failure and shirking the international and humanitarian responsibilities set out in Sweden's Agreement.

It emphasized that the fines for seizing ships during the so-called temporary arrangements referred to by the United Nations envoy amount to about $ 44 million due to the increase in seizure periods during the same period.

The statement pointed out that the average periods of detention of ships before the implementation of the UN envoy’s office mechanism were 12 days compared to 33 days, the average periods of detention during the period of temporary arrangements, bringing the same average after the suspension of temporary arrangements to 103 days,  indicating that the mechanism of the envoy's office was merely a tool to further tighten the blockade on 26 million Yemeni citizens.

It called on all Yemeni people and the free people in the world to intensify solidarity activities that reject the continued siege of oil derivative ships and demand the immediate release of all ships held unconditionally and not to be pirated on them in the future.
