SANA'A, Jun. 06 (Saba) - A document of honor was signed on Sunday between Yemeni coffee dealers, companies, and exporters under the auspices of the Higher Agricultural and Fisheries Commission, represented by the Coffee Unit and the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.

The provisions of the document emphasized the need to unite efforts in the interests of the country and Yemeni coffee and to respect and abide by the laws and regulations in force in the country.

It urged honest competition, commitment to business ethics, non-abuse internally and externally among traders, companies, and exporters of Yemeni coffee and adherence to fair prices in Yemen's coffee procurement process.

The document also called for a lack of speculation in purchasing prices to the detriment of the public interest and a firm stand against those who discredit Yemeni coffee, traders or companies, and coffee exporters at home and abroad.

During the signing of the document, the Head of the Coffee Unit of the Higher Agricultural and Fisheries Commission, Mohammed Al-Qasimi, noted that the signing of the honor document was intended to protect the rights of Yemeni coffee dealers, companies, and exporters, thereby preserving Yemeni coffee's historical reputation.

Al-Qasimi explained that the role of the State was to supervise and formulate policies only, while associations and traders had an important role to play in expanding and increasing the production of Yemeni coffee.

The head of the coffee unit noted the improvement in Yemen's coffee productivity during the current period. Emphasizing the need for attention to coffee quality, through raising farmers' awareness and training on good agricultural practices and post-harvest transactions.

Al-Qasimi stressed the need to prepare a guide for Yemeni coffee exporters in the coming period.

For their part, a number of coffee dealers and exporters and the Chairman of the Coffee Exporters' Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rashid Shajea', confirmed their eagerness and willingness to make further efforts to contribute to improving the productivity of Yemeni coffee and to support and encourage the cultivation and productivity of this economic crop.
