HODEIDA, Aug. 13 (Saba) - Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Engineer Abdulmalik al-Thor, inspected Friday's flood's irrigation system flood's in Wadi Ramaa, Hodeida province.
During the visit, the Minister of Agriculture, from the head of the General Authority for the Development of Tihama Ali Hazza, heard an explanation of maintenance work at the dam, gates and irrigation channels. The irrigation system in the Ramaa Valley covers an area of 12 1,000 hectares of agricultural land.
A number of farmers also heard an explanation of the extent to which they benefited from the floods to irrigate their farms, the difficulties encountered during the flow of floods in the valleys and the needs required to avoid damages to the floods in agricultural land.
The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation inspected Zabid's valley irrigation system, with five transformative barriers recounting 16 thousand and 430 hectares of agricultural land.
Engineer Al-Thor commended the General Authority's leadership's efforts to develop Tihama in carrying out periodic maintenance and removing sediment from barriers.
He urged that water installations continue to be maintained periodically to achieve the desired benefit in irrigating large agricultural areas without loss or damage.
