OCCUPIED AL-QUDS July 14. 2023 (Saba) - The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday warned of a Zionist plan to control Palestinian archaeological sites and called on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to assume its responsibilities.
In a statement, the ministry condemned in the strongest terms the Zionist enemy's storming of the town of Sebastia, injuring more than 20 citizens, and considered it an extension of the enemy forces and settler militia's continuous attacks to control and Judaize the archaeological area in the town.
The statement confirmed that "this attack falls within a plan to control Palestinian archaeological sites throughout the West Bank and impose Zionist control over them and annex them, as stated in the enemy's media, which confirmed that the Zionist government is about to allocate hundreds of millions of shekels for this purpose."
The ministry's statement considered that the implementation of this plan is colonial and racist par excellence, and falls within the framework of the declared and undeclared gradual annexation of the occupied West Bank, calling on the international community and UNESCO in particular to assume their responsibilities in protecting Palestinian archaeological and heritage sites.
