TEHRAN April 25. 2024 (Saba) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Thursday that Iran rejects the content of the joint statement of the Emir of Kuwait’s visit to Jordan regarding the Arash gas field, stressing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s right to the field.
Tasnim International News Agency quoted Kanaani in response to one of the items of this statement that refers to the Kuwaiti government’s claim regarding Arash field, as saying raising the claim unilaterally through such statements does not guarantee any right for the plaintiff.
He referred to previous negotiations and consultations between Iran and Kuwait, saying We advise Kuwait to stay away from the path of false media hype around this issue, and return instead to technical and legal negotiations as the best and most appropriate way to consider this matter.
The Iranian spokesman reiterated his country's readiness, based on historical rights and the background of joint negotiations, to continue negotiations in accordance with frameworks that ensure respect for common interests.
Kanaani also stressed the need to adhere to the principle of good faith during regional interactions, far from the interference of third governments in this regard.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman concluded that countries concerned can inevitably reach the desired agreement in light of friendly cooperation, which is in harmony with common interests and rejects any media hype.
