SANA'A June 25. 2024 (Saba) - The framework of interest in enhancing traffic safety, providing emergency and humanitarian services on roads and main lines, and expanding the scope of services provided to citizens, the Ministry of Interior launched, at the beginning of this month of Dhu al-Hijjah, several ambitious transformational projects for the General Administration of Traffic Police.

The launch of traffic transformation projects comes within the strategic priorities of the Traffic Department to enhance road safety and security, reduce accidents, reduce deaths and injuries, and sustain traffic services.

Transformative projects focused on establishing centers to provide emergency and humanitarian services to drivers and users of long roads and main lines linking governorates, and launching some electronic services within the framework of the digital transformation of the Ministry of Interior and the Traffic Police.

As a first stage, followed by multiple stages in the rest of the roads, the General Traffic Department established traffic control points. It launched the work of the road traffic police after preparing four centers dedicated to providing traffic and charity services on the Sana'a - Al Mahwit - Al Hodeidah, Sana'a - Manakhah - Al Hodeidah roads, and Sana'a - East City - Hodeidah.

Director General of the Traffic Police, Brigadier General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashi, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the road traffic police stations have been provided with the material and human capabilities that enable them to perform their tasks in organizing traffic routes and preventing traffic accidents.

He pointed out that the launch of these projects practically translates the directives of the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, based on the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, al-Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and the Chairman of the Supreme Political Council to improve traffic services and enhance the safety of road users.

He said, “Allah Almighty has commanded benevolence and that He loves the doers of good and rewards them and promised them goodness and more, the true Islamic religion has made benefiting people and doing good to them great worship,” stressing that the traffic projects will work to protect people’s lives and preserve their property.

Dr. Al-Barashi stated that the road traffic police stations are concerned with saving the lives of citizens that are lost in traffic accidents on long roads, pointing to the humanitarian work mechanism of these centers that cover a wide area of roads and provide humanitarian services and charity to people.

He considered the inauguration of traffic projects a qualitative addition to the traffic police in carrying out its tasks and enhancing traffic discipline and safety. He added, “The leadership of the Ministry of Interior seeks to put an end to people’s suffering resulting from traffic accidents, their tragic effects, and the country’s loss of capabilities, capabilities, and human cadres.”

He stressed that the bloodshed and waste of money and property resulting from accidents require a serious stance from all state institutions, including the relevant authorities and institutions. Calling for concerted efforts and cooperation with the traffic police to put an end to traffic accidents that worry everyone, and to adhere to the rules and instructions that regulate traffic on the roads.

Brigadier General Al-Barashi confirmed that the road traffic police are deployed on the targeted long lines to ensure the provision of services to citizens and ensure the flow of traffic on them.

He appreciated the support of the Ministry of Interior leadership for the traffic police, to contribute to reducing the burden on citizens and reducing accidents on the main roads and lines.

In turn, the Acting Road Traffic Police Officer, Major Muhammad Al-Shahari, pointed out the importance of launching transformative projects by establishing road traffic police service centers to provide assistance to those whose vehicles get stuck on roads and long lines.

He stated that specialized engineers in the free mobile maintenance workshop located in the service centers provide charity services to citizens whose vehicles have stopped on the roads for various reasons and deliver some of them via cranes to the nearest maintenance workshops.

Major Al-Shahari pointed out that the Road Traffic Police carried out, during the past few days, work to remove slums and the causes of traffic congestion on long roads in coordination with the Traffic Police in the governorates that fall within its jurisdiction.

He urged road users to call the unified toll-free number 194 in the event of any problem or traffic accident in order to be transferred to them and provide assistance in the crisis.

Traffic accidents and the safety of road users remain a concern for the traffic police and community members alike, which requires everyone to adhere to the traffic rules and regulations related to vehicle safety, perform regular maintenance on them, and adhere to set speeds to reduce accidents and reduce the rate of loss of life and property.
