SANA'A July 15. 2024 (Saba) - A meeting of the committee to search, investigate and study the damage caused to the fisheries sector was held in Sana'a on Monday, according to confessions issued by the US spy network.
During the meeting, they discussed the committee's executive plan, which includes reviewing the confessions of the spy network, studying its effects on the fisheries sector, reviewing and evaluating the implemented and ongoing projects in the sector, and the importance of communicating with the relevant authorities to obtain the necessary information and data.
The meeting approved the formation of sub-working groups to carry out the tasks of collecting and analyzing information related to damage, a working group to review and evaluate projects, and a working group to develop proposals to address the damage caused to the fisheries sector.
At the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Fisheries - Chairman of the Committee, Taher Khater, stressed the importance of the Committee's role in analyzing and addressing the economic and environmental damages caused by espionage activities, and the need for concerted efforts between the various concerned parties to reduce the negative impact of these activities on the fisheries sector.
He explained that the meeting comes within the framework of the government's efforts to investigate the damage to the fish sector resulting from US espionage activities, and take the necessary measures to address those damages, in addition to strengthening control and inspection mechanisms to protect marine resources and ensure their sustainability.
He pointed out that the protection of the fisheries sector requires continuous cooperation between government agencies and civil society. He stressed the need to raise awareness among fishermen and coastal communities about the risks and challenges facing the sector.
