MAHWEET August 17. 2024 (Saba) -Mahweet emergency and disasters committee on Saturday held a meeting, chaired by local council's secretary-general Dr. Ali al-Zokaim, that discussed precautions needed to tackle damages left by floods and earth slides.
The meeting reviewed reports - submitted by relevant offices - on duties achieved according to previous plans and studies to avoid any damages in the Yemeni central governorate and its districts.
The meeting underlined the need for mechanism to coordinate efforts and to remedy damages left by floods, for necessary precautions, for active operation room, and for a plan to minimize floods' impacts on farming lands and historical sites, to repair asphalt roads and to channel rainwater.
The meeting also decided to form field committees to list most vulnerable dams and to report on them at next meeting.
