LONDON August 19. 2024 (Saba) - The British newspaper "The Guardian" revealed that a group of lawyers filed a lawsuit, to the High Court in London, in the case of Palestinians being tortured and left without treatment in hospitals, seeking an order that prevents the British government from continuing to grant arms export licenses to British companies that sell weapons to "Israel".
The 14 witness statements, which cover more than 100 pages, come from Palestinian and Western doctors working in Gaza hospitals, as well as ambulance drivers, civil defense staff, and aid workers.
The graphic evidence was designed to support a request for a court order that the British government had acted irrationally by refusing to ban arms sales because there was no clear risk that the arms would be used to commit violations of international humanitarian law.
A coalition of NGOs also collaborated on this case, including Al-Haq, the Global Legal Action Network, Amnesty International, Oxfam, and Human Rights Watch.
It is the first attempt to present such blatant testimony about alleged Zionist war crimes before a British judge.
GLAN lawyer Charlotte Andrews Preskoe, who compiled and presented the evidence, said: "The only determining factor in compiling witness statements is the sheer number of cases of ill-treatment and abuse.
