At least 20 people were injured on Sunday when a tractor-trailer collided with the rear of a passenger train in Upper Egypt's Minya governorate.
The Egyptian Railways Authority (ERA) said in a statement: A tractor-trailer collided with the rear of a passenger train travelling from Aswan to Cairo in an area between Abu Qurqas and Minya, which led to the fall of a power carriage of the passenger train and another carriage of the train into a waterway.
The statement added: The train was separated from the two carriages and then resumed its journey to Cairo, the statement said.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health said in a statement that the preliminary count indicates that 20 people were injured in the accident and that no deaths have been reported so far.
The ministry added: ‘Ambulances transported 19 injured to Minya General Hospital and one injured to Minya University Hospital. The ministry added that ambulances transported 19 people to Minya General Hospital and one to Minya University Hospital.
According to the railway statement, Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir ordered the formation of a committee of specialists to investigate the causes of the accident.
