Afar Customs Center in Al-Bayda province honored on Tuesday two employees who last week foiled an attempt to smuggle one million , 650,000 narcotic pills and banned agricultural seeds.
The center's deputy director for officer affairs, Ali Saleh Sargah, and customs officer, Salim Talib, were honored with a financial reward and certificates of appreciation, as Sargah and Talib managed to seize an empty refrigerator trailer containing a hidden tank with quantities of narcotic drugs and prohibited agricultural seeds.
The center director , Fahd Hazzaa, explained that the honor comes based on the directives of the Customs Authority head , Engineer Adel Merghem, in recognition of the efforts made to thwart an attempt to smuggle a large amount of narcotic drugs and banned agricultural seeds.
He stressed the importance of every employee having a sense of responsibility and a high sense of security to thwart any attempt to smuggle or introduce prohibited materials in order to preserve the security and the community safety , as the Customs Authority is the first line of defense.
Sargah and Talib expressed their thanks to the head of the Customs Authority for this gesture, which is a tribute to all the center's employees.
During the ceremony, a number of binocular cameras were inaugurated to be used in the inspection of narrow spaces and suspicious cabinets.
