Moscow - Saba:
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday that the United States has once again started practicing its own policy of claiming that Russia, and now other countries, are interfering in its elections.
On the sidelines of the 21st annual meeting of the Valdai International Club, Zakharova was quoted by Russia Today as saying: "Now the whole world has frozen not in anticipation, but in fact from the horror of the electoral processes that are unfolding in the United States, they are constantly proceeding from the fact that someone is interfering in their elections."
Russia rejected allegations by US intelligence services of alleged interference in and spreading lies about the presidential election.
She added: "The intelligence services have once again accused Russia and other countries of spreading lies about the US election within American society," she said.
"If you listen to the American presidential candidates and how they accuse each other of lying, other countries have nothing to do here," Zakharova said.
The US elections kicked off on Tuesday, months after Republican candidate Donald Trump suffered two assassination attempts and US President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, leaving his deputy Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
