The Chinese military announced today that it has carried out combat air and sea patrols in the territorial waters and airspace of China's Huangyan Island and surrounding areas.
Xinhua news agency quoted the Southern Operations Theatre Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) as saying: ‘These patrols, which include air and naval forces, are conducted within international law and in accordance with the defensive combat missions carried out by his forces.
The Chinese military announced in October that it was conducting military exercises involving land, sea, air and missile forces near the Chinese island of Taiwan.
