The Supreme Judicial Council reviewed in its weekly meeting today, under the chairmanship of Judge Dr. Abdul Momen Shuja El-Din, Chairman of the Council, the report of the Minister of Justice on the proposal for priorities for judicial reforms and the qualitative transformation in the performance of the judicial authority and upgrading their tasks to achieve justice and ensure the preservation of private and public funds and rights.
The Council approved the report's matrix of judicial reforms, thanking the Minister of Justice and Human Rights for the effort made.
The Council approved the performance report of the Public Prosecution for the year 1445 AH and directed it to take into account the comments received thereon from the General Secretariat of the Council.
The Judicial Council also reviewed the report on the follow-up of prison conditions, the care of prisoners, and the decision on their cases.
He stressed the need for continuous follow-up and coordination with the concerned authorities in addressing the conditions of prisons and prisoners as one of the urgent priorities of the judiciary.
The Council directed the formation of a committee from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Judicial Inspection Authority, and the Public Prosecution to go to prisons, examine the cases of prisoners, address their cases and those who deserve release, and work to prepare an integrated report by the approved legal standards.
It discussed the report submitted by the committee in charge of examining and studying the grievances of judges and prosecutors against efficiency assessments and took appropriate action thereon.
The Council reviewed the draft procedural manual for notaries and trustees and referred it to one of its members for review and submission at a future meeting.
It approved the draft amendment to Presidential Decree No. 13 of 1994 on criminal procedures and referred it to the Minister of Justice and Human Rights to complete the procedures by the law.
The Council also held a hearing for a judge based on what was attributed to him in the disciplinary case filed by the Judicial Inspection Authority.
It discussed a number of topics on its agenda took appropriate decisions on them, and approved its previous record after some amendments.
