The Higher Supervisory Committee for the Evaluation of Postgraduate Programs in Private Higher Education Institutions, in coordination with the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council, organized on Monday a training workshop for postgraduate program evaluators.
The workshop aims to provide 83 experts and academics from various universities with scientific and practical skills to enable them to conduct the evaluation process for postgraduate programs in private universities and provide them with the necessary skills to analyze the evaluation criteria, conduct the evaluation process and prepare reports according to the standards approved by the committee.
At the opening, First Deputy Prime Minister Allama Mohammed Muftah emphasized that Yemen is witnessing a strategic transformation at various levels, and the basis of this transformation and its leaders are scientists, thinkers and university professors.
The First Deputy Prime Minister stated that Yemen is one of the countries that emerged from the hegemony of foreign powers with blood, pain and anguish. He pointed out that the external powers were imposing general orientations on the country, preventing it from achieving any scientific renaissance, and imposing sanctions on it due to Yemen's historical and sensitive status.
He pointed out that the hegemonic powers have studied the reality of societies and are still updating their studies and consider Yemen one of the pivotal turning points, and the only one in the region that has a spiritual and human extension beyond geography , has a pioneering civilizational experience, had a prominent role in spreading Islam and civilizations to earth various parts.
"Today we are establishing the future of postgraduate studies according to scientific foundations , controls, and the hopes and sacrifices of the people are pinned on you to correct the situation of these studies to contribute to the construction and renaissance of Yemen," he said.
For his part, Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi considered the holding of this workshop an important milestone and one of the tributaries of development and a qualitative step towards correcting the course of postgraduate programs in Yemeni universities.
Dr. Al-Dais pointed out that the committee set the necessary frameworks to organize the evaluation process, starting with the necessary criteria and evidence, then the selection of evaluation committees, ending with the field visit and writing the final report and recommendations to correct the deficiencies.
The Chairman of the Higher Supervisory Committee, Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, reviewed the stages of the committee's work and its tasks based on the scientific academic standards adopted by the Academic Accreditation Council, setting the frame of reference, updating and reviewing them in accordance with the principles of the laws and regulations of higher education, universities , postgraduate studies and the system of relevant legislation in order to achieve the desired goals and objectives.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Haboub, Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council, reviewed the reference framework and the methodology of the evaluation process, while the national expert, Dr. Noman Firouz, reviewed the working documents of the committees.
In the workshop, which was attended by the Executive Director of the Information Technology Center, Dr. Fouad Abdulrazak, the Secretary General of the Accreditation Council, Dr. Mohammed Daifallah, leaders of the higher education sector, evaluation experts from various universities, and the President of the Federation of Private Universities, Dr. Yahya Abu Hatem, participants were divided into five working groups.
Participants were discussed and trained on the skills of analyzing the criteria and their indicators, implementing the stages of the field visit, calculating the weights , estimates, writing the final report and its recommendations in the disciplines of "medical , health, engineering and computing, business administration, accounting, legal and humanitarian programs."
