The local council and executive offices in Shu'ub district, part of the Capital Sana'a, organized a speech event and a visit to the Martyrs' Photo Exhibition on Tuesday, marking the annual anniversary of Martyr's Day.
The event, which brought together local leaders and community members, featured Dr. Samir al-Saheb, the head of the Planning and Finance Committee in the district, who spoke on the profound significance of martyrdom.
He highlighted the sacrifices of the martyrs, who gave their lives in defense of Yemen, stressing the importance of commemorating this occasion to honor their dedication and to remember the principles they fought for. Dr. al-Saheb also called for unified efforts to care for the families of the martyrs.
Cultural activist Mohammed al-Khazan also addressed the gathering, emphasizing that Martyr's Day serves as an opportunity to reflect on the martyrs' heroism and draw inspiration from their unwavering strength.
He urged the community to support the martyrs' families and remain committed to the ongoing struggle for Yemen's sovereignty, describing the fight as part of a broader struggle against oppression, including solidarity with Gaza and resistance to Zionist and American forces.
The event, which was attended by Mabrouk al-Washah, Chairman of the Services Committee, local council members, and district officials, also featured poetry performances by students from "l-Firdaws Mosque" schools, which focus on teaching the Holy Quran.
In addition to the main event, residents from al-Askari, al-Siyah, and al-Hafa neighborhoods held their own commemorative activities in honor of Martyr’s Day.
Abdullah al-Kool, Mobilization district director Ali al-Mutawakil, representing the families of the martyrs, delivered powerful speeches stressing the glory and strength that the martyrs' sacrifices have brought to the Yemeni people.
They also expressed pride in the Yemeni Armed Forces' operations, which have targeted the Zionist entity in solidarity with Gaza, and praised the martyrs for their ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.
The commemorative events, which were attended by local leaders, executive officials, neighborhood mobilization representatives, martyrs' families, and community figures, also featured poems that honored the martyrs' legacy and the significance of the day. The activities reinforced the collective commitment to preserving the martyrs' sacrifices and continuing the struggle for Yemen's dignity and independence.
