Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mohammed al-Muwalad met on Tuesday with football referees participating in the international activation course held in Jizan city during the period from October 22 to November 3, 2024 AD.
50 referees and referee evaluators participated in the course, representing the provinces of the Republic, and gained information about the new amendments and the method of using the VAR technology, which has become essential in modern football today.
The Minister of Youth listened from the Chairman of the Referees Committee Ahmed Qaed and Secretary of the Committee Mohammed Noman to an explanation of the conditions of the Referees Committee, its programs, and its participation in the program of this course, which came after a long period of interruption from the rehabilitation programs for referees.
They explained that the course program included lectures, presentation of arbitration case models, tests on the law and its amendments, physical exercises, positioning, movements, and making collective decisions and unifying them for the arbitration team during matches.
The Minister of Youth and Sports stressed the importance of building the referees' capacities, developing their skills, and continuous training that keeps pace with everything new in the world of football arbitration.
In the meeting, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Sports Sector, Ali Hadban, he pointed out the importance of referees' commitment to the standards of integrity, honesty, and patience, as the referee is the judge of the field who rules according to his conscience according to the arbitration law without flattery or favoritism.
Minister al-Muwalad pointed out that the referee must tolerate the opinions of those who may describe the referee according to the results of the sports teams they support, stressing the ministry's readiness, during the coming period, to hold a number of these qualifying courses for referees working in the field at all levels and to qualify new referees.
