Moscow - Saba:
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that his country is forced to respond to the unprecedented escalation provoked by the outgoing US administration after Kyiv launched long-range US missiles targeting Russian territory.
Peskov said in a press statement on Sunday that his country "is forced to respond to this unprecedented escalation, which is provoked primarily by the outgoing US administration."
Russia is inevitable "as the United States takes more and more reckless steps fuelling the conflict in Ukraine," he said.
On amending the Russian nuclear doctrine, Peskov considered that Russian President Vladimir Putin's decree amending the Russian nuclear doctrine is a clear signal to the West.
"President Putin has directed that our doctrine be adapted to the current conditions of confrontation provoked by Western countries," he added.
Putin's signing of the decree amending Russia's nuclear deterrence policy came two days after US President Joe Biden allowed Kyiv to use long-range ATACMS missiles against Russia.
Putin had earlier stressed that the conflict in Ukraine after the attack with Western missiles on Russian territory has acquired a global character.
