Brussels - Saba:
The European Union's Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stressed that the Zionist entity violates international humanitarian law, noting that "the government of Benjamin Netanyahu tramples on international law."
Borrell stressed that what is happening in the Gaza Strip "is a flagrant violation of human rights and we need a ceasefire as a first step and then a political solution for peace."
Borrell addressed the meeting, which is attended by 90 delegates from coalition member states, saying: "We have to protect the United Nations and international law, and we must protect the United Nations."
"I have been talking to UN workers in Gaza, they are there, risking their lives, and they are afraid that they will become victims not only of the Israeli bombing, but also of the despair of the people."
Josep Borrell's remarks came during the opening of the second meeting of the international coalition to implement the two-state solution, which is hosted by the Belgian capital, "Brussels" on Thursday.
Borrell called for "not undermining the work of the ICC".
"Europeans should support its work and strengthen its decisions," he said.
He called on European countries to stop undermining the International Criminal Court, "in a clear indication of France's retreat from compliance with the arrest warrant of the Zionist enemy Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."
"Stop hiding behind anti-Semitism."
Earlier, Borrell said the EU had taken note of the arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu and his former war minister Yoav Galant, which is needed for implementation, including for member states.
