Japanese stock indices rose in morning trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Monday.
According to Japanese media, the benchmark Nikkei index of 225 stocks rose 11.98 points, or less than 0.1 percent, to 38,220.01 points in the morning session.
The broader Topix added 18.86 points, or 0.68 percent, to 2698.86.
