Dhamar governor Mohammed al-Bukhaiti inaugurated on Tuesday Haran Model Nurseries, located within the Haran Park Administration in Dhamar City.
The nurseries, supervised by the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund in the province, are part of the preparations for the upcoming agricultural season for the year 1447 AH.
During the inauguration, governor al-Bukhaiti highlighted the critical role that agricultural nurseries play in producing seedlings for a variety of purposes, including fruit trees, ornamental plants, and forestry. He stressed the importance of expanding the cultivation of these trees throughout the governorate to support local agriculture and environmental preservation.
The Governor urged further expansion of the nurseries’ activities, emphasizing the need to increase productivity and ensure that seedlings are distributed to various districts within Dhamar. This initiative is in line with plans to boost agricultural production, promote environmental sustainability, and achieve self-sufficiency.
Governor al-Bukhaiti also praised the efforts of the team led by Ahmed al-Dhorani for their work in implementing the nurseries project, which is considered the first of its kind in Dhamar and neighboring governorates.
At the event, which was attended by the Executive Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund in Dhamar, Ahmed al-Banna, and the Director of the Fund’s Improvement Sector, Hafidh Allah al-Kumaim, it was highlighted that the Haran Model Nurseries are producing a variety of seedlings, including fruit trees, ornamental plants, coffee, and other varieties.
Al-Kumaim projected that the nurseries would produce over 100,000 seedlings annually. He also noted that in the previous agricultural season, more than 6,000 trees were planted in public parks and along major streets, with a significant project being the planting of median strips on the Sana'a-Dhamar road from the Dhaf area in Jahran district to the entrance of Dhamar City.
