Hajjah - Saba:
The cleanliness and improvement sector in Hajjah province continues its efforts to provide services aimed at highlighting the civilized face of the province center and district centers.
The fund management worked in coordination with the provincial leadership, the Ministry of Finance and the relevant authorities in accordance with the plans, programs and available resources to improve the level of services provided to citizens.
During the past year, the Cleanliness Fund carried out many cleaning campaigns in the districts according to the plans in this aspect.
The fund focused on providing the needs of the branches to meet the requirements of the work, implementing many urgent projects to improve the level of performance , conducting studies for the next phase, and paying attention to the maintenance of the fund's equipment to ensure the continuity of providing cleaning services.
Implemented projects
A report issued by the fund received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) indicated that last year witnessed the implementation of a project to paint the sidewalks of most of the streets of the province center (sides - central islands) and the central islands (the main street of Baabs - Shafar - the ring in Al-Aman) with a length of 35 km and 418 meters and an area of 12,000 and 502 m2. At a cost of 7 million and 102 thousand riyals.
The report indicated the supply of 123 garbage barrels with different capacities to the districts of Hajjah, Abs, Shiras, Al-Mahabsha, Al-Shahel, Mostaba, Mabeen, Bani Qais, Kahlan Afar and Al-Mughraba at a cost of 20 million and 478 thousand riyals, funded by the Ministry of Finance and humanitarian partners.
Among the implemented projects, according to the report, is a project to supply a 3-ton Sizo dump with a capacity of (6) m3 to Abs district at a cost of 19 million and 623 thousand riyals, funded by the Ministry of Finance.
Last year also witnessed the supply of 9 meters, including 7 Abu 3 tires and 2 Abu 5 tires that suit the nature of work in the districts of Al-Shaghadra, Mustaba, Bani Qais, Mubin and Al-Mughraba at a cost of 13 million and 876 thousand riyals with the support of the Ministry of Finance and humanitarian partners, with the support of the Ministry of Finance and humanitarian partners.
According to the report, light bulbs, bulbs, photocells, twists, touch screens and wires of various sizes and lengths were purchased and supplied to commemorate the birth of Al-Mustafa (peace be upon him and his family) at a cost of 4 million and 100 thousand riyals with self-financing.
Cleaning work:
The report stated that the cleaning work during the past year 1445 included the center of the province, Shirs, and the cities of Abs, Al-Mahabsha, Al-Aman, Maghrabat Al-Binin (Najra), Al-Tour, Al-Luha (Bani Qais), Mabeen, Kahlan Afar, Al-Shaghadra, Al-Thouth market (Aslam), Al-Hijah (Mustaba), Jiyah (Aflah Al-Yemen) and Al-Maghraba directorate, in addition to the Muharrak market (Khiran Al-Muharraq)...
It pointed out that exceptional and comprehensive cleanliness campaigns were carried out on the occasion of the Prophet's Birthday, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha in a number of directorates and various dust removal campaigns in a number of directorates as well as the implementation of stray dog extermination campaigns in the province center.
According to the report, the amount of solid waste (garbage) removed from the province center and districts during the year 1445 AH amounted to 43,363 tons.
The report also reported that the solid waste (construction, flooding, animal waste) was removed from the streets of the province center and districts during the year 1445H. From the streets of the province center, Al-Aman, Al-Mahabsha, Abs, Shafar and Kahlan Afar, the number of carried out zafat reached (610) zafat and the volume of carried out waste amounted to one thousand and 917 cubic meters.
The fund's plan for the year 1446 AH
According to the report, the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund aims during the current year 1446 AH to implement many different projects to develop services at a cost of 217 million riyals.
The report referred to the preparation of studies for the implementation of a project to paint the pavements of most of the streets of Hajjah city, the public street of Abs, Shafar and the ring in Al-Aman, with a total length of 37 kilometers , 198 meters, and an area of 1,324 square meters, in addition to rehabilitating the lighting of the public street in Abs and Shafar.
The studies also included the implementation of the lighting project for the main street in Abs district and sub-streets by purchasing, supplying and installing double and single poles in the main street and wall lights in sub-streets in Abs and Shafar, in addition to rehabilitating and maintaining lighting poles, bulbs and photocells in the center of the province.
The project included asphalting Abs dump road with a length of 4 kilometers and 836 meters and a width of (6) meters, rehabilitating the proposed dump for Abs Directorate into a controlled dump and fencing it, purchasing and supplying a bulldozer to remove sandy dust - building two rooms and a bathroom - an electronic scale).
The report included the preparation of a study and designs for Ahem dump in Kishr district, by fencing the dump with barbed wire from all sides, leveling the site by cutting and backfilling, and making an iron gate for the dump
The report indicated that a project will be implemented to create a tour and a model of the Victory Brigades to improve the square surrounding the market tour in the center of the province , immortalize the heroism and sacrifices of the mujahideen of the Victory Brigades in defending the country, its security and stability.
It also included the rehabilitation of the waste dump in the province center in Qadam with funding from the Children's Care Organization, turning it into a monitored dump, protecting neighboring agricultural lands and mitigating the environmental impact.
Problems and obstacles:
The report touched on a number of issues and obstacles on the technical side, especially the final disposal sites (dumps) in the province's cities, which are considered open dumps and need to rehabilitate the current dumps into controlled dumps.
The report pointed out that street vendors' paving on the sidewalks in the middle of the main streets in the province center, Abs, Al-Aman and Al-Tur, greatly hinders the cleaners from performing their work.
The report considered the lack of disposal of construction waste by citizens who have built in the streets and neighborhoods of the province center as one of the reasons that hinder the cleaning work, in addition to the accumulation of flood residues in a number of streets due to the lack of timely disposal by citizens.
The Executive Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund in the province, Hamza Sharafuddin, praised the interest of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council in the cleanliness funds in order to ensure the implementation of programs for cleaning work , the removal of waste and dust from the main streets and the continuation of follow-up and field monitoring to maintain them.
The executive director of the fund, Hamza Sharafuddin, summarized the solutions and proposals to overcome the obstacles in rehabilitating the final disposal sites (dumps) in the cities of the province into controlled dumps.
He pointed out the need to replace the dilapidated equipment in the province center (2 8-m3 choppers, 2 5-ton dumpers, 2 3-ton dumpers, and a light crane).
He stressed the fund's need to provide two choppers with a capacity of 8 m3 and 8 3-ton dumpers for Kahlan, Abs, Al-Mahabsha, Al-Tour, Al-Loha, Mubin, Al-Thawth market, Al-Shaghadra and Al-Hija market to ensure the expansion of cleaning services
He also stressed the need for concerted efforts by the relevant authorities to control street vendors and not allow them to furnish in the middle of official streets, allocate markets for them in the province center, Abs and Al-Aman, and oblige the owners of new buildings to remove their waste from the streets and neighborhoods of the city.
Sharafuddin expressed the hope that 50 workers (cleaners) will be paid daily wages, rent or provide equipment and operational expenses within the Fund's budget for the year 1447.
