Sana'a - Saba:
A new early diagnosis unit for breast and cervical cancer was inaugurated on Saturday at al-Sabeen Maternity and Childhood Hospital in the capital Sana'a.
The ceremony was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Meftah, Minister of Health and Environment Dr. Ali Shaiban, and Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Madani, Chairman of the Cancer Control Fund.
The newly launched unit, supported by the Cancer Control Fund, is equipped with advanced technology, including mammography and television rays, for early detection of breast and cervical cancer. Hospital director Dr. Majida Al-Khatib provided a detailed tour of the facility, which also offers clinical examinations for patients.
Sheikh Meftah praised the unit as a significant step towards improving healthcare in Yemen. He expressed confidence that the establishment of such specialized centers would reduce the need for patients to seek treatment outside the country.
He also commended the efforts of the Ministry of Health, the Cancer Control Fund, and the hospital in driving this initiative.
During the visit, officials were also briefed on the progress of a new medical waste storage project at the hospital.
