Washington - Saba:
US President-elect Donald Trump has criticized a decision by current President Joe Biden to lower flags for 30 days during his inauguration.
Biden ordered flags to be lowered in mourning for the late President Jimmy Carter, who died last Sunday at the age of 100.
"This is an unprecedented step. I don't think any American would be happy to see their flag lowered during the inauguration of the next president," Trump said on Saturday.
"But the Democrats are very happy about it because they only love themselves," the Republican president-elect added.
Despite Trump's talk about this matter and his saying "let's see how things go," the White House confirmed that the decision to lower flags during the coming period will not change.
Jimmy Carter was the President of the United States of America from 1977 to 1981, and died on December 29.
Carter was a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and the longest-lived US president.
