Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed today, Saturday, that Iraq gained its freedom thanks to the sacrifices of martyrs and mujahideen.
"Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani participated in the memorial ceremony held in the capital, Baghdad, on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Hakim," The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement carried by the Iraqi "Al-Maalouma" Agency.
He explained that "Iraq gained its freedom thanks to the sacrifices of the martyrs, foremost among them Sayyid al-Hakim, so that the dictatorship fell with the patience, bravery, and rejection of injustice of the Iraqis."
He pointed out that "the celebration of the memory of the martyr Al-Hakim coincides with the anniversary of the martyrdom of the leaders of victory and their companions, that painful incident that targeted two symbols of the war against the worst terrorist organization."
