Sana'a - Saba: Palestinians in the Gaza Strip welcomed the New Year amidst a Zionist massacre in Jabalia, where Palestinian media reported the martyrdom of 17 Palestinians last Wednesday morning, as a result of Zionist airstrikes on Jabalia al-Balad in the north of the Strip and al-Bureij camp in the center.

The Palestinian "Wafa" Agency reported the martyrdom of 15 Palestinian citizens, most of them children, and the injury of a number of others as a result of the Zionist enemy aircraft bombing a house in Jabalia al-Balad in the north of Gaza, and two citizens were martyred as a result of the enemy bombing a house in al-Bureij camp.

The Zionist enemy forces blew up residential blocks in the town of Beit Lahia and Jabalia camp and its surroundings in the north of the Gaza Strip.

The Zionist enemy vehicles opened fire in the northwestern area of Gaza City, and the enemy artillery targeted the southeastern neighborhoods of al-Bureij camp in the central Gaza Strip.

The Gaza Strip is still suffering under the scourge of a devastating Zionist war that has been ongoing for more than 14 months, which has destroyed everything in the Strip that has been under siege for 17 years. Thousands have been martyred, and most of its 2.1 million residents have continued to flee several times, due to Zionist orders forcing them to do so. However, the displaced have not been spared from bombing, targeting, and burning to death inside their tents, amid truce talks that have not yet resulted in a ceasefire.

The year 2024 was full of political events in the region, and Gaza was its turning point and focal point, as tensions escalated in the region with the Zionist entity entering a comprehensive war in Lebanon that finally led to a fragile truce that cooled the northern front.

The latest statistics from the Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that no less than 45,541 Palestinian citizens were martyred, the majority of whom were women and children, and about 108,338 others were injured, in an incomplete toll, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, and ambulance and rescue teams cannot reach them.

The Zionist warplanes bombed health facilities and hospitals, while the Zionist enemy arrested a number of medical workers during its ground attack, and health services in Gaza are in a catastrophic state, according to what was announced by the World Health Organization.

A report issued by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on the humanitarian situation update in the Gaza Strip showed the rapid deterioration of the humanitarian situation in most parts of Gaza and the civilian casualties that fell as a result of more than a year of Zionist aggression.

Humanitarian Crisis:

The Gaza Strip is estimated to be facing a severe humanitarian food security crisis, with more than 876,000 people facing emergency levels of food insecurity (IPC4) and 345,000 facing catastrophic levels of food insecurity (IPC5), according to projections from November 2024 to April 2025.

More than 50,000 children are expected to require treatment for acute malnutrition in 2024, and an estimated 160,000 pregnant and lactating women are in need of nutrition and micronutrient supplements.

A World Health Organization report also confirms that food prices in Gaza have increased by 312 percent since the beginning of the conflict.

On the health side, about one million people face health threats due to the spread of rodents, pests, solid and human waste, and sewage, while about 1.4 million people receive less than the recommended amount of water, estimated at (six) liters per person per day for drinking and cooking.

It is also estimated that more than one million children are in dire need of mental health services and psychosocial support, with about 17,000 children unaccompanied or separated from their parents as of February 2024.

In terms of infrastructure, more than 141,000 housing units were completely destroyed, while another 270,000 units were severely or partially damaged.

It is also estimated that more than 80 percent of commercial facilities were damaged by January 2024, and that about 68 percent of the total road network was damaged by August 2024.

In the health sector, only 35 percent of primary health care centers are partially operational, and 493 school buildings need major reconstruction or rehabilitation. Thirty-five university buildings were destroyed, and 57 other buildings were damaged by October 2024.

These figures confirm that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip requires an immediate response to support those affected and alleviate their suffering in light of the current catastrophic conditions.

The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Gaza revealed that 1.9 million people are displaced in the Strip.

Sigrid Kaag told the UN Security Council: "More than a million people have been displaced once again, desperately searching for shelter and safety." She added: "Today, 1.9 million people have been displaced throughout Gaza."

“Palestinian civilians in Gaza have been plunged into an abyss of suffering, their homes shattered, their lives turned upside down,” Kaag continued. “The war has not only caused the deepest humanitarian crisis, it has unleashed a storm of human misery.” She said that aid is not reaching enough people in the war-torn enclave, and that opening new crossings, especially to southern Gaza, is essential to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.

Since the Zionist enemy forces entered the northern Gaza Strip, they have been seeking with all their might to destroy as many homes, buildings and infrastructure as possible, including hospitals, health clinics and schools that have been transformed into shelters since the beginning of the ongoing war in the Strip.

Many international organizations have accused what the Zionist entity is doing there of genocide, as it has killed thousands during its operations there and destroyed most of the areas and infrastructure. These forces are mainly focusing on keeping the northern Gaza Strip a disaster area that is unfit for life, with the aim of forcing its residents not to look forward to returning to it through the systematic policy of destruction that it follows. The occupying entity seeks to turn the northern Gaza Strip into a buffer zone.
