Hundreds of people on Wednesday gathered in a demonstration outside the Vancouver Art Galleries, Canada, to celebrate the recent ceasefire in Gaza, at an important moment for Arab, Muslim and Yemeni communities.
In the demonstration, which was organized by several non-profit organizations that share a commitment to peace, human rights and solidarity with Palestine, participants affirmed their support for the ceasefire and the Palestinian cause.
Participants expressed their optimism as they celebrated the prisoner exchange between the Zionist enemy entity and the Hamas movement, which was considered an important victory in the ongoing struggle for peace and justice.
In an atmosphere filled with hope and unity, speakers from various community organizations congratulated the attendees on the ceasefire agreement, stressing the importance of ongoing efforts for peace and solidarity across the world.
Many speakers also expressed their gratitude for Yemen’s steadfast support for Palestine over the years, noting Yemen’s role in defending Palestinian rights.
The demonstration included messages of unity and calls to continue defending Palestinian rights in order to achieve lasting peace in the region. The march was a powerful reminder of the power of community activism, as people from diverse backgrounds came together to support a common cause.
Participants in the demonstration carried Palestinian, Yemeni and Arab banners and flags, chants and songs, in addition to moments of silence in honor of those affected by the ongoing conflict. Sweets, biscuits and coffee were also served, adding a touch of warmth and celebration to the atmosphere. The square was also decorated with flowers that added beauty and symbolism to the occasion, making the atmosphere more festive.
