Beijing - Saba:
China has formally protested to the US side regarding the remarks made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which it described as baseless accusations against China.
This came against the backdrop of Rubio's remarks during his visits to Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic from February 1 to 6, where he spoke about cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries, stressing that he seeks to "confront the influence of the Chinese Communist Party" in the Western Hemisphere.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry considered these remarks to be fueling the Cold War mentality and ideological bias.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed in a statement on Friday that these remarks target China and aim to create discord between China and the countries concerned.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry also accused Washington of interfering in China's internal affairs, stressing that they harm China's legal rights and interests.
