Sana'a - Saba:
The government launched today the Supplementary Local Development Program for the year 1446 AH, with the participation of several ministries and government institutions in cooperation with the Agricultural Cooperative Union and Bonyan Foundation, to promote economic development and achieve self-sufficiency.
During the inauguration, which coincided with the conclusion of a workshop with the participation of 80 directors of the directorate and 60 field coordinators, Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, a member of the Supreme Political Council, stressed the importance of stimulating the local economy and mobilizing national capabilities to enhance production away from external tutelage.
The Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Administration and Local and Rural Development, Mohammed Al-Madani, explained that the program focuses on activating the partnership between the government and society, while the Minister of Economy, Industry and Investment, Moeen Al-Mahagri, pointed to the launch of the Economic Stimulus Program, which aims to reduce the import bill and support national industries, including textile, dairy, food and leather industries.
The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Radwan Al-Rubai, stressed the importance of providing an accurate database to support agricultural production and achieve self-sufficiency, pointing to the need for cooperation between the public and private sectors to achieve sustainable development.
The program aims to boost local production, support contract farming, and stimulate cooperative societies and community initiatives, thus contributing to improving the national economy and reducing dependence on imports.
