Brussels - Saba:
The call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump on Wednesday raised concerns among European leaders.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump discussed the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East, energy issues and the exchange of citizens in a phone call that lasted an hour and a half.
German Foreign Minister Annalina Berbock joined the chorus, adding that "peace can only be achieved together. And this means: With Ukraine and with the Europeans."
In addition, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared, "All we need is peace... Ukraine, Europe and the United States must work together on this."
For his part, French diplomat Jean-Noël Barrot insisted that "there will be no just and lasting peace in Ukraine without the Europeans."
Meanwhile, Estonian Defense Minister Hannu Pevkur said: "Europe is investing in Ukrainian defense, Europe is rebuilding Ukraine with EU money, with our bilateral aid, so we have to be there."
The two presidents also touched on other topics: Middle East conflict settlement, Iran's nuclear program, and Russian-American bilateral relations in the economic sphere. Putin and Trump agreed to continue personal contacts, including organizing a personal meeting.
