Addis Ababa - Saba:
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed talked about the most important moment his country has experienced from his point of view, explaining that the Ethiopians showed a firm commitment to peace before the Battle of "Adwa", as they endured repeated threats and provocations from the Italian enemy, without resorting to revenge.
The Ethiopian "ENA" Agency quoted Abiy Ahmed as saying that "the invading Italian army tried to undermine Ethiopia by recruiting bandits and infiltrating the government through agents, in addition to spreading terror locally and internationally."
He continued: "Despite the repeated calls for peace, the hostile forces chose war and Ethiopia's call for peace was met with arrogance," adding that "the Italian invaders underestimated Ethiopia and considered its pursuit of peace as fear and weakness."
According to Abiy Ahmed, despite these provocations, Ethiopia has shown patience and readiness for peace as a last resort. He pointed out that Ethiopians, through centuries of experience, have realized the harsh realities of war, which made them value peace above all else. He stressed that they are making exceptional efforts to avoid conflict, but they are ready to fight to protect peace when all peaceful means are exhausted.
