Britain to send first tranche of £2.6 billion loan to Ukraine next week

London-Saba:
The British government announced that it will send the first tranche of a £2.6 billion loan (equivalent to about $3 billion) to Ukraine next week.

The British government said in a statement published today, Sunday, that the loan will be allocated entirely to military purchases to support Ukraine's defenses under an agreement signed yesterday, Saturday, between the British and Ukrainian sides.

Britain is scheduled to send three equal annual tranches of £752 million.
This agreement comes on top of the United Kingdom's commitment to provide three billion pounds in annual military aid to Ukraine.

For her part, British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves said: “A safe Ukraine is a safe Britain. The funding will support the Ukrainian armed forces and put Ukraine in the strongest possible position at a critical juncture in the war.”
