Today, Wednesday, the Israeli occupation forces prevented Palestinians from reaching their homes to break their fast by detaining their vehicles at the Beit Furik military checkpoint east of Nablus.
According to local testimonies, hundreds of Palestinians were forced to break their fast for the second day in a row at the checkpoint after the occupation forces closed it and prevented their passage, as they allowed only one vehicle to pass every 15 minutes after searching and checking the identities of the passengers and detaining some of them. As the time for the call to prayer approached, those stuck resorted to breaking their fast with dates distributed by one of the detainees.
The leader of the People's Party, Nasr Abu Jish, confirmed that these practices are part of the policy of collective punishment imposed by the occupation authorities through about 900 checkpoints and iron gates in the West Bank, which leads to tearing apart the Palestinian areas and turning them into closed prisons, noting that these violations are repeated continuously, especially during the month of Ramadan, at many checkpoints such as Deir Sharaf, Beit Furik and the Container near Bethlehem.
