"Axios": Americans Interested in Reaching a Long-Term Truce in Gaza
"Axios": Americans Interested in Reaching a Long-Term Truce in Gaza
[Thu, 06 Mar 2025 02:04:22 +0300]

Washington – Saba:

The American news site "Axios" reported on Wednesday, citing U.S. sources, that American officials are interested in establishing a long-term truce in the Gaza Strip.

According to the sources, "Americans are interested in a long-term truce in Gaza." However, they noted that the stance of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on such a truce remains unclear.

Netanyahu continues to stall negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire deal in Gaza, aiming to extend the first phase for 42 days to secure the release of the largest possible number of Israeli captives while avoiding the commitment to ending the war.

Additionally, Netanyahu has been using the suspension of aid as a tool for blackmail and pressure, attempting to evade entering negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, which was initially set to begin on February 3.
