Baghdad - Saba:
Baghdad Municipality announced, Wednesday, the start of the first phase of the "Sustainable Baghdad Forests" project, which will be established on the Rashid Camp land to be the largest urban forest in Iraq, with an area of 12 million square meters, including more than one million perennial trees.
The implementing company has begun removing rubble and replacing the soil to create green hills, waterfalls, and waterways that mimic nature, making the project a new green lung and tourist destination for the people of the capital.
The project represents a qualitative shift in sustainable development, as the services government insisted on transforming the entire area from a residential project into green spaces to improve the environment and confront climate change and pollution.
The project includes 28 diverse forests, including the Culture and Arts Forest, the Children's Forest, the Women's Forest, the Technology Forest, and the Sports and Fitness Forest, in addition to the National Pavilion and the Global Forest Village.
It also includes a giant artificial lake with an area of 1.5 million square meters, interspersed with water channels, in addition to recreational and cultural facilities such as a theater, museum, cinema, and sports facilities.
