Beijing - Saba:
Any war between China and the United States cannot be fought or won, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday in response to US statements about preparing for war with China.
Commenting on the US Secretary of Defense's statements regarding China on Wednesday, Lin Jian added in press statements that the statements of US officials incited ideological confrontation and promoted the "Chinese threat."
"We advise the United States not to use its own hegemonic logic to reflect Chinese thinking, not to view China-US relations with the outdated Cold War thinking, and not to contain and suppress China in the name of strategic competition."
Jian stressed that China's position is clear and firm, whether it is a "tariff war" or a "trade war", whether it is a "cold war" or a "hot war", it cannot be fought or won.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth previously said that the United States is "prepared" for any war, adding that avoiding it is through accumulating deterrence.
In an interview with the American Fox News network on Wednesday, Hegseth indicated that this is the reason behind "rebuilding the United States' military, re-establishing deterrence and the warrior spirit", noting that "we live in a dangerous world with strong and rising countries, with multiple ideologies."
