The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education confirmed that Palestinian children and school students are the most targeted by the Israeli occupation.
The ministry explained in a statement on the occasion of Palestinian Children's Day that more than 17,000 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, the majority of whom are school students.
It noted that children face numerous challenges daily due to the dire circumstances they are experiencing, especially in the Gaza Strip, Quds, and Area C of the West Bank.
It stated: "Education in Palestine, especially in Gaza, is being directly targeted by the occupation, which continues to destroy schools and impede children's access to a safe learning environment."
It added, "Despite these circumstances, our children in Gaza continue to cling to their right to education, which is the only path to a better future. This is what the ministry is trying to promote through virtual schools and providing alternatives that guarantee this right."
