New York - Saba:
UN Secretary-General's spokesman Stéphane Dujarric has said that food stocks in Gaza are running out, and aid programs have been shut down due to a shortage of supplies.
Dujarric noted in a press statement on Friday that health conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate.
He added that this poses a threat to public health in the Strip.
He warned of the onset of an outbreak of insects and the highly contagious skin disease scabies.
Dujarric stressed that chemicals are needed to combat them.
He noted that the World Food Program has reported that food stocks are running out.
The UN spokesman noted that aid programs, such as bakeries, have closed due to a shortage of supplies.
On March 2, the enemy closed the Gaza Strip crossings to the entry of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid into the Strip, causing an unprecedented deterioration in the humanitarian situation, according to local government and human rights reports.
Human rights, governmental, and international organizations have previously warned of the repercussions of the continued tightening of the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip, which will plunge Palestinians into a state of severe hunger.
