Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov reached the second round of the Monte Carlo Tennis Championships after defeating Chile's Nicolas Jarry on Tuesday.

Dimitrov, the 15th seed in the tournament, managed to win the match in two sets, (6-3) and (6-4).

In the second round, Dimitrov will face Valentin Vachero, who is an invitation participant in the Championships.

Spain's Pedro Martinez defeated Italy's Lorenzo Sonego by two sets to one, (6-4), (1-6) and (6-2).

Martinez awaits in the second round the winner of the match between Denmark's Holger Rune, the tournament's 10th seed, and Portugal's Nuno Borges.
